The Criminal Investigation Department arrested five members of an organised syndicate allegedly operating online betting and gambling websites in Narsingdi, BSS reported on 13 August 2026.
A Cyber Investigation and Operations team under CID’s Cyber Police Centre conducted raids on 11–12 August. Police seized nine mobile phones, 20 SIM cards and cheque books of different banks.
CID said the platforms offered betting on international cricket, football and other sports, accepted deposits through bKash, Nagad, Rocket, Upay, bank accounts and cryptocurrency, and recruited agents to collect MFS numbers and bank accounts for operators via Telegram. Funds were allegedly consolidated, moved through banks and converted to cryptocurrency before being sent abroad.
