Bangladesh Bank issued a directive on 28 May 2026 instructing all mobile financial service providers to keep merchants and customers under continuous surveillance for possible involvement in online gambling, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury told parliament, according to The Business Standard.
Under the directive, providers were asked to take immediate action and inform law enforcement agencies if any suspicious involvement was detected. The minister also said regular awareness campaigns were being conducted about the risks of online gambling.
